We’re continuing our study “How To Study The Bible,” as we learn to examine several different methods we can use, to studying God’s Word. Today, our teaching is called “The Chapter Summary Study Method of the Bible.” The Chapter Summary Method is a simple, accessible approach to Bible study that allows individuals to gain a clear understanding of a passage in about 20 to 30 minutes without requiring external reference tools. Designed to build a broad foundational knowledge without deep technical analysis, the process involves selecting a chapter and reading it at least five times—ideally out loud, continuously, and across different contemporary translations using an unmarked Bible to capture fresh insights. To complete the summary, the reader works through ten structured steps: assigning a brief caption; recording the contents via an outline or paraphrase; identifying chief people, a key verse, and crucial words; noting challenges or questions for future study; looking up cross-references; identifying insights about Christ; defining the central lesson; and concluding with personal application. This method offers a flexible and practical tool for developing a consistent, lifelong habit of personal Scripture study.
