We’re a new study that’s called “Ethics And Excellence In Life Series.” This is Lesson One and it’s called “Examining Christian Ethics.” Christian ethics focuses on the internal scriptural and spiritual motivations behind human conduct rather than a rigid list of rules. True biblical obedience requires an understanding of the Pauline doctrines (Apostle Paul) like justification—where God legally acquits a believer through faith in Christ—and sanctification, which provides the divine power to overcome a natural inclination toward sin. Our lesson highlights a "qualified determinism," suggesting that while humanity possesses a fallen nature that inherently chooses sin, individuals still retain the free will to accept God's grace and salvation. Ultimately, moral reformation cannot happen through sheer willpower or human effort alone; a spiritual regeneration (or rebirth) by the Holy Spirit must occur first, clearing the conscience and enabling genuine, faith-driven obedience out of love rather than legalistic fear.
