We’re a continuing with our study that’s called “Ethics And Excellence In Life Series.”  This is Lesson Three and it’s called “Sermon On The Mount Ethics Part 1.” The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5–7) establishes the core ethical framework for the Christian life, focusing on "righteousness of life"—the practical, outward manifestation of an inner godly character required of all believers. Addressing both his immediate disciples and the gathering multitudes, Jesus outlines these ethical expectations not as a rigid checklist, but as an interconnected, organic transformation of the heart. This inward shift is detailed through the Beatitudes, which define the essential attitudes of a righteous person: recognizing one's utter spiritual poverty (poor in spirit), grieving over personal and global sin (mourn), maintaining controlled strength and humility (meek), desperately pursuing God's will (hunger and thirst for righteousness), extending empathetic compassion and forgiveness to others (merciful), and cultivating absolute internal sincerity free from hypocrisy (pure in heart). Ultimately, this comprehensive moral soundness reshapes a believer's entire worldview, granting them an intimate, sustaining awareness of God's presence and providence in every circumstance.
