This is the third sermon in our series “Preparing To Harvest” and it’s entitled “Pulling the Weeds.” Based on our previous sermon "Planting Good Seed," spiritual growth requires more than just planting good seed; it calls for the active removal of competing weeds, hindrances, and entangling sins that drain our affection for Christ. Drawing from Hebrews 12, our message today encourages believers to follow the example of past saints in the Bible by throwing off unhelpful habits, distractions, and compromises, and stepping out of secrecy into the light through honest repentance. Rather than focusing solely on our struggles with frustration or shame, we are invited to run our spiritual race with endurance by fixing our eyes on Jesus—the pioneer and perfecter of our faith—who offers the mercy and strength needed to cultivate a lasting spiritual harvest.
