Sermon 318_Waiting for the Promise _Journey To Pentecost Series_M5_Handout.pdf Scriptures: Acts 1:12-26 Today, we’re continuing with our sermon series that’s called “A Journey to Pentecost,” and it points us toward the Day of Pentecost, the day the church began. This is our fifth message, and its entitled “Waiting for the Promise.” In God’s kingdom, waiting is a purposeful period of preparation rather than a waste of time. Following Jesus’ ascension, the disciples demonstrated that biblical waiting is an active, faithful discipline characterized by constant prayer, communal unity, and practical readiness, such as the selection of Matthias, to replace Judas as an Apostle. Just as God used seasons of anticipation to shape the character of figures like Abraham, Joseph, and David, He uses our own periods of delay to align our hearts with His timing and strengthen us for future responsibilities. By choosing to trust God’s perfect schedule over the world's demand for instant gratification, believers can trade frustration for expectancy, confident that God is working behind the scenes to equip us for the promises ahead.
